Own Your Business

We live in a society comprised of two very distinct groups. There are the business owners, and then there are the employees.

It’s much better to be an owner than an employee.

The system sets us up to fail. Throughout our whole lives, we learn how to be good little employees. When told to jump, we are supposed to ask how high. It starts from the very beginning. Society forces students to stick to a curriculum. We take a test called the SAT, which tells us what we are worth. We go to college where we are taught advanced survival skills for low-income employees. We learn how to live on dried noodles. When we get jobs, we get locked in cubicles before owners use us to make them money, paying us only a small percentage of what we are actually worth. The whole process can be so demoralizing and the fear of failure so great that people waste their lives stuck in tiny little boxes.

Regardless of where you are in your life, you always have a second option, and you can always make a change. Anybody can be a business owner. This website is designed to help you get started on that path. Here you can learn how to choose a new career, have the job you have always wanted, and start your own business.

This is not a get rich quick scheme. I don’t claim to know all of the answers about starting your own business, in fact if I have something wrong, you should let me know. I strongly believe in the merits of entrepreneurship and small business. Because of this, I created this website so I could share what I know with other entrepreneurs.

Where to Begin

This website contains a wide variety of information that is useful to small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. If you are new and looking to start your own business, I suggest you begin by reading The Guide. While this is designed for beginners, even experienced business owners might find some of this information useful and refreshing. You can also think of this as the “recommended” section. The most popular blog articles will eventually end up in here.

I suggest you check out the Blog, and look through the Archives. I cover a variety of topics here, all designed to help business owners.
